Bland
You now have a Bland account and a real phone number. Here is my Bland API key: [API KEY]. Read Bland's docs at bland.ai to understand the API, wire yourself up so you can place and receive calls on my number, and confirm the setup by telling me the number and what you can do. From then on: when I ask you to call someone with instructions, place the call with Bland, have the conversation, and report back how it went - keep the recording available if I ask for it. Check the number for inbound voicemails and add anything you hear to our chat. Rules that never change: a phone call reaches a real person - before you dial, show me who you are calling, the number, and the goal/script of the call, and wait for my go-ahead; always be honest that you are an AI assistant calling on my behalf if asked; never clone a voice unless it is MY voice and I explicitly asked for it, and never use a cloned voice to impersonate anyone; no calls to emergency services, and respect do-not-call requests immediately. Mind the per-minute cost - keep calls as short as the job allows. Copy the prompt and paste it into Grok.
- 01 Create a Bland account at bland.ai - the enterprise voice AI platform for phone agents: human-sounding voices, sub-second latency, 40+ languages.
- 02 Purchase a phone number in the Bland dashboard (about $15) and copy your API key.
- 03 Give your Grok Bot the API key and paste the prompt below - the bot works out the rest of the setup itself, including inbound voicemail.
What it does
Bland is the enterprise voice AI platform for phone agents: “Build, deploy, and monitor AI voice agents that sound human,” with self-hosted models, sub-second latency, and 40+ languages. For a Grok Bot, it’s the missing sense: a real phone number your bot can call from and receive on. Buy a number (~$15), hand your bot the API key, and it can place calls with instructions you give in plain language, hold the conversation, report back how it went, keep recordings, hear inbound voicemails - even create a voice from a short sample of your own.
Use it in Grok Bot
No connector needed - Bland is API-first, and a Grok Bot can wire itself up from the docs with just your API key. Paste the prompt on this page: your bot confirms its number, then “call the restaurant and book a table for two at 8” becomes something it can actually do, with a report (and recording on request) when it’s done. Because calls reach real people, the prompt keeps you in the loop - the bot shows you who it’s calling and why before it dials, is honest about being an AI when asked, and only ever clones your voice at your explicit request. See the “give your Grok Bot a phone number” use case for the setup that inspired this listing.
